This study was conducted to determine the consumer buying behavior pattern and problems of low-income homemakers in Cabarroguis, Quirino. The study focused on buying behavior pattern as to reasons why homemakers buy, what, and when on the basic needs of the family (food, clothing, and household needs).
Results revealed that low-income homemakers buying behavior patterns of food, clothing and household items were more on buying the immediate and everyday needs of the family. The homemakers bought food often for nutritional and health needs of the family. In clothing and household needs, durability and price were often considered.
Rice, vegetables, and groceries (sugar, salt, and noodles) were often bought and must be in their fresh form. Sari-sari store and the public market were being patronized by the homemakers due to its accessibility and cheaper items sold. Clothing and household items are being bought as need arises.
Significant difference was observed between the age of low-income homemakers and their buying the ready to wear clothing. The educational attainment differed significantly when buying vegetables and poultry. The ethnic origin of the homemaker differed significantly with buying food, clothing, and household needs. The consumer buying problems were on adulteration of food, slack fill, defective weighing scale, food labels, deceptive containers and online buying.
