The study was conducted to evaluate the effect of supplementation of gamma-irradiated carrageenan extract on the growth performance of piglets.
A total of twenty-four piglets were used in this study A total of twenty-four (24) piglets were randomly distributed to three blocks, each with four treatments and two piglets were assigned in each treatment. The experiment was laid in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with the following treatments Treatment 1: control, Treatment 2: 5% GICE supplementation. Treatment 3:10% GICE supplementation and Treatment 4:15% GICE supplementation and data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) The piglets were supplemented with GICE from day 10 to day 45 of age.
The result of the study revealed that mean weights, average daily gain (ADG) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) at different times of the different treatments are comparable and statistically shows no significant differences.
