| General note | The study utilized the descriptive-quantitative-survey method of research. Quantitative data were presented to have clearer understanding on the level of measurements in all the indicators of the study. Furthermore, descriptive-correlational technique was employed to elicit the relationships between and among the selected independent and dependent variables through Pearson-r Correlation Coefficient.<br/><br/> The study was conducted in the District of Lamut, Ifugao with 75 students from the different elementary schools of Lamut District, Ifugao.<br/><br/> The study utilized two instruments which included a Mathematics Anxiety Questionnaire and a Mathematics Achievement Test.<br/><br/> In general, the respondents were "anxious" in dealing with situations in mathematics.<br/><br/> The respondents were in the beginning level in terms of their over-all cognitive skills in Mathematics and in the knowledge, comprehension, and application areas. Based on the findings of the study, the following were hereby concluded: The students were "anxious" when doing or encountering Mathematics and the students were in the beginner-level in their cognitive skills in Mathematics in the areas of knowledge, comprehension and applications thus having beginners-level in their overall Mathematics cognitive skills. Also, nervousness in asking questions in the class had a negative influence in the students' mathematical cognitive skills in the areas of knowledge and comprehension in the overall Mathematics' cognitive skills. Furthermore, worrying about not being able to complete every assignment in a mathematics course had a negative influence in the students’ mathematical cognitive skills in the area of students’ knowledge and the belief of being able to do mathematics had a positive influence in a students' cognitive skills under application. Moreover, educational attainment of parents had a significant positive influence to the respondents' belief of getting an "A" in a Mathematics course, also, the educational attainment of the father had a significant positive relationship to the confidence of a Grade VI pupil in taking a Mathematics exam. Moreover, monthly family income had a positive relationship with the pupil's confidence in using mathematics outside the school. Additionally, gender had a significant relationship with the cognitive skills of Grade VI pupils in the area of understanding and the over-all cognitive skills in mathematics also, highest educational attainment of both parents had a significant positive relationship with cognitive skills of Grade VI pupils in the area of understanding and the over-all cognitive skills in mathematics. And activities that can enhance students' confidence in doing mathematical activities must be conducted to the students.<br/><br/><br/><br/> |
