| General note | The study was designed in assessing the language anxieties of Grade III pupils of Magapuy Elementary School (MES) and Vista Hills Elementary School (VHES). Hence, it was guided in determining the relationship of the respondents' language anxieties with their language practices and cognitive skills in English. Still, the study was also geared in identifying relationship between their demographics and the identified learning constructs. This study used the descriptive-survey with a questionnaire-checklist and a constructed assessment test in English for Grade III pupils. The respondents of this research study had included the Grade III pupils of Magapuy Elementary School and Vista Hills Elementary School, Bayombong I District, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya for the school year 2015-2016. Particularly, descriptive-correlational method was utilized on the selected indicators on the respondents' language anxieties, practices and along the identified variables for their demographics. The findings suggested that majority of the respondents were females; belonging to the Roman Catholic; with the mean age of 8.79 years and an average monthly family income of 4,295.78 pesos. Most of them were Tagalogs and most of their parents were college graduates. On the average, the respondents enjoyed about 6-7 multi-media resources at home and scaled a mean of 39.19 minutes exposure for school's facilities related to ICT. The respondents' overall level of language anxiety was qualified as "positive anxiety". The respondents' degree of language practices was generally qualified as "positive practice". The respondents' level of cognitive skills was noted as "developing". Respondents' category along monthly family income and exposure to school's facilities related to ICT were significantly correlated with the respondents' overall level language anxieties. Also, the respondents' language practices were significantly related with their performance along cognitive domains on knowledge and process; while their communication anxiety can be associated to their cognitive skills along knowledge. Still, the respondents' level of language practices was significantly correlated with their overall cognitive skills in English. |
