500 ## - GENERAL NOTE
General note Two hundred Japanese Seattle quails were subjected to a feeding experiment with different levels of effective microbes in the diet with the following objectives: 1) to determine the effects of different levels of effective microbes as feed additive on the growth performance of starting growing Japanese Seattle quails; 2) to determine the effects of using different levels of effective microbes as feed additive on the laying performance of Japanese Seattle quails; 3) to determine the organoleptic qualities of quail eggs derived from the study, and 4) to determine the economy of using different levels of effective microbes as feed additive in Japanese Seattle quail diets.

No significant differences were noted on the initial weight, gain in weight, final weight, feed consumption and feed conversion ratio of starting-growing Japanese Seattle quails.

The inclusion of the different levels of effective microbes as feed additive did not result in higher profits derived from the experimental quails during the starting-growing stage.

Initial weight, final weight and change in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and egg production rate of the experimental quail layers did not significantly vary among the different treatments.

Egg quality parameters like egg weight, egg mass, and yolk color were not significantly affected by different levels of effective microbes as feed additive.

Significant differences on cost of feed per egg were noted among the experimental birds in the different treatment groups. The inclusion of the different levels of additive being studied has no significant contribution to return above feed cost.

Different levels of effective microbes in the diet of Japanese Seattle Quails (Coturnix japonica) significantly affected yolk and albumen color, and egg texture, but not on taste and flavor. The eggs from quails fed with diets containing different levels of effective microbes were rated acceptable by the panel of evaluators.
