| General note | This study determined the association of executive functioning and management effectiveness of academic middle-level administrators of the Nueva Vizcaya State University, Bayombong and Bambang Campuses, Province of Nueva Vizcaya. Moreover, it determined the variables that predict the extent of their executive functioning and management effectiveness.<br/><br/> This research employed the descriptive-inferential method. Stratified proportionate random sampling was used to determine the samples of the study. A standardized test, the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function Adult version (BRIEF A) was utilized to assess the executive functioning of the academic middle-level administrators, while a two-part questionnaire was used to determine the administrators' demographics and their level of managerial effectiveness. The analysis was done using mean, t-score, Pearson r and regression.<br/><br/> The better the ability of the university's academic middle-level administrators to execute their management skills, the more that they tend to be in the borderline in their executive functioning in terms of their emotional control. Further, as they exceptionally perform their management skills, the more that they tend to be normal in their executive functioning in terms of inhibition, shift, self-monitoring, initiation, planning/organization and task monitoring. As the management skills of the deans and department chairs reaches the exemplary level, the more that they inhibit themselves from acting on impulse and be able to adjust given the circumstances. On the other hand, when the academic middle-level administrators' executive functioning in terms of shift, self-monitoring, initiation, planning/organization and task monitoring becomes normal, one is guaranteed better performances on communication skills, adaptability, interpersonal relations, and initiative and creativity of the middle managers. And as they tend to reach the borderline in their working memory, emotional control, inhibition and organization of materials, there is a greater chance of achieving better interpersonal relations, decision-making and judgment, and initiative and creativity.<br/><br/> Age, sex, marital status, highest educational attainment, length of service, present designation, and number of years in present designation are strong predictors of executive functioning of academic middle-level administrators.<br/><br/> Age, sex, highest educational attainment, present academic rank, present designation, and number of previous designations are predictors of management effectiveness of NVSU's academic middle-level administrators. <br/> |
