| General note | Higher education institutions today more than ever are facing major challenges because of the current decline in student enrollment. In many institutions, physical education (PE) is often the primary means for students to participate in and learn about the benefits of physical activity and fitness and it becomes more optional as students enter the senior grades. However, institutions are struggling to keep their share of the shrinking pie and to retain students until graduation. This study aims to assess student retention strategies, level of satisfaction and motivation that would likely motivate students to participate in the Physical Education and conceptualize activities for effective student retention. It also seeks to measure the level of satisfaction of the students in the management aspect and the provision of physical resources of the HEls for Physical Education subjects. This study made use of the descriptive-inferential research design. There are 375 students who are enrolled in Physical Education subject among the 7 private Higher Education Institutions in Santiago City were used as the respondents of the study. Results reveal that the respondents are in the age bracket 21-23 years old, majority are female There are more students who are enrolled in Physical Education 3 than in Physical Education 4 Their year level revealed that majority of the respondents are third year students and are enrolledin University of La Salette. Most of the respondents are moderately satisfied with the provision of Higher Education Institution of physical resources for Physical Education Subjects yet there are few who are slightly satisfied; the respondents are moderately satisfied with the management aspect of the Higher Education Institutions, and the respondents are moderately motivated to pursue and finish their Physical Education subjects.<br/><br/>Keywords: Satisfaction, motivation, management aspect, physical resources, physical education |
