| General note | The study determined the relationship of the physical fitness and academic performance of freshmen of the College of Teacher Education of the Nueva Vizcaya State University.<br/><br/>The study used the descriptive-correlation research method through a Personal Data Sheet, Interview Guide, Records of Achievement, and Physical Fitness Test of the Department of Education,<br/><br/>The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts and percentages, and inferential statistics. In determining the relationship in the level of physical fitness of the respondents and their demographic profile, Chi-square was used.<br/><br/>Pearson was also used in determining the relationship between the demographic profile and physical fitness of the respondents and their academic performance.<br/><br/>The study was conducted among freshmen at NVSU Bayombong and Bambang campuses, school year 2011-2012.<br/><br/>Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn:<br/><br/>The freshmen of NVSU are within the regular age of the year level they belong.<br/><br/>They are also within the normal height and weight of a first year student, Ilocano andRoman Catholic. The students came from poor families with parents who had finished secondary level in their formal education. In school, most of the students were enrolled in early morning class schedule.<br/><br/>The level of the academic performance of the respondents is described as satisfactory to very satisfactory.<br/><br/>The students of NVSU were within below target level in their Physical fitness.<br/><br/>The demographic variables such as age, gender, course and height when taken together can predict or explain their physical fitness level. (4.b) There was no significant difference in the physical fitness of the NVSU students when grouped according to weight, ethnicity, religion, income of the parents and attainment of the parents, occupation of parents, class schedule and status of students.<br/><br/>There was no significant relationship between the profile and the academic performance of the freshmen of NVSU.<br/><br/>There was no significant relationship between academic performance and physical fitness of the freshmen of NVSU. |
