| General note | The study was undertaken in the nine (9) elementary public schools in Quirino Province and a total of 142 respondents were randomly chosen. The study was conducted from March to July 2022.<br/><br/>The general objective of the study was to assess the relevance of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program implementation in elementary public schools of Quirino Province. The specific objectives were 1. determine the socio-demographic profile of the school teacher implementers, 2. evaluate the extent of the program implementation in terms of program components, implementation strategies, participating schools' qualifications, information dissemination and advocacy campaign, and monitoring and evaluation, 3. evaluate the relevance of program implementation in terms of educational relevance, demonstrated vegetable production technology, environmental aspect, nutritional impact, and social acceptability to students, 4. determine the issues and problems encountered by the implementers and key members as regards to the implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program, 5. find out if there is significant relationship between the profile of the respondents to the extent of implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan program, 6. find out if there is significant relationship between the profile of the respondents to the relevance of Gulayan sa Paaralan implementation in elementary public schools, 7. find out if there is significant relationship between the extent of program implementation in terms of program components, implementation strategies, school qualifications, information dissemination and advocacy campaign, and monitoring and evaluation to the relevance of Gulayan sa Paaralan implementation in elementary public schools, and 8. recommend measures to efficiently and effectively deliver the services of Gulayan sa Paaralan Program.<br/><br/> A structured questionnaire was developed and administered to the teacher-implementers in elementary public schools. The data were gathered through face-to-face interview. The data were analyzed using the descriptive (frequency counts, percentages, means) and inferential statistics using correlation procedure.<br/><br/> The implementers have an average age of 45.08, predominated by females, with 11.74 average number of years in teaching, only few attended trainings and seminars in gardening, acquired their learning in gardening through experience and helping their parents with 11.62 years' experience in gardening. The overall extent of the program implementation is significantly correlated with the number of years having experience on gardening. And the overall relevance of the Gulayan sa Paaralan is significantly correlated with the number of pupils and number of years in school gardening.<br/><br/> The project components, the implementation strategies, participating schools' qualifications, information dissemination and advocacy, monitoring and evaluation and the overall extent of program implementation accorded to the implementers significantly and positively correlated with the relevance of the Gulayan sa Paaralan in terms of educational relevance, demonstration vegetable technologies, environmental aspects, nutritional impacts, social acceptability and overall relevance of GPP in Quirino Province. |
