| General note | This study sought to determine the demographic profile of the local residents of barangay Bansing, Casat, and Paitan, their perception on tourism, tourism promotion and its perceived personal and community benefits. The study utilized a quantitative method of research. Descriptive statistics was utilized: frequency for the generalization of the demographic profile while mean was used to find the perceptions of respondents. A chi-square test was conducted to find possible associations of the profile variables to the perception of the respondents on tourism, its promotion and the seen benefits of the respondents and the community to tourism. A five-point Likert scale was utilized for the perceptions and a structured questionnaire adapted on the study of Moura, Monico, & Mira (2019) and Ribeiro et al. (2017) to fully disclose needed information from locals. Furthermore, a four part survey questionnaire was distributed to 90 randomly selected residents from the three selected barangays of Bayombong. Results revealed that the respondents were all female aging 26 years old and up with monthly income in the poverty line. Moreover, in terms of the perception of residents to tourism, the respondents see tourism as beneficial to their life. Their openness to the concept of tourism as a way to attract investment to their community and possibly aid in increasing their living standard together with the improvement of the community was rated the highest. Also, personal and community benefits can be derived from tourism. However, tourism promotions were seen to be conducted but were not well thought out. Finally, there is no significant associations on the given profile variables to tourism, its benefits to the community and to locals and the tourism promotion carried out in the locality.<br/><br/>Keywords: Benefits, Local Residents, Perception, Promotion, Tourism<br/> |
