| General note | The study was conducted to document existing Indigenous practices on the management of diseases of swine raised in Aguinaldo, Ifugao. A total of 80 respondents were randomly selected from the study stics. The study was conducted from March - June 2021 Data were gathered using a structured questionnaire and validated with key informants. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical method.<br/><br/>The respondents were mostly female with their age ranging between 31-60 years, most have attended elementary school, raising less than 5 heads of pigs with farming as their main occupation. Diarrhea, inactivity/lethargy, loss of appetite, wound and vomiting are the clinical signs of swine diseases commonly observed. Knowledge and usage of the indigenous treatment for swine diseases still exist such as the use of banana stalk and blossom, hagili (Tasmania piperatai seed, guava leaves, ipil-ipil seed (Leucaena leucephala), potar shoot (Arundo spp.) and bathing swine with fever. <br/><br/>The ethno-veterinary practice in the municipality is diminishing gradually being replaced by the modern veterinary practices.<br/> |
