| General note | This study sought to determine the profile of the respondents with specialized skills along the areas of Home Economics, Agri-fishery, Industrial Arts and ICT, so with their level of TESDA National Certificates (NC) in the same areas. It also aimed to identify the level of life and career skills of the respondents and challenges they encountered.<br/><br/> This study was conducted to 235 lifelong learners from both campuses of Nueva Vizcaya State University. The data were gathered through a survey-questionnaire with three parts: personal profile, life and career skills, and challenges encountered. The data were analyzed using descriptive-inferential method. Descriptive methods were used to present the personal profile of the lifelong learners, their level of life and career skills and their views on the challenges they may encounter. On the other hand, the inferential methods were used to establish differences and relationships among the variables.<br/><br/> Results of the study revealed that most of the respondents are males, taking a degree course with specialization, and passed the TESDA National Certification. They exhibit a fairly satisfactory level of life and career skills making them successful candidates as future employees or self-employed individuals. The lifelong learners moderately agree that they encounter challenges posed by personal circumstance such as lack of financial capacity of their parents to address their school needs, family and administration support.<br/><br/> Significant differences were observed in life and career skills for employment and self-employment of the respondents when grouped according to their age, civil status, degree and NC passed. Likewise, significant differences were found in the challenges encountered due to administrative support and faculty handling the subject area by the learners when they were grouped according to age and NC passed, respectively.<br/><br/> Lastly, there were no observed significant relationships in the life and career skills and challenges encountered by the respondents. It is recommended that other factors be included to enhance the study for better intervention programs.<br/><br/>Keywords: Life and Career Skills, Challenges Encountered, Lifelong Learners |
