The study compared the acaricidal effect of kakawate leaf with the commercially available acaricide (Coumaphos) The study was laid out using the Complete Randomized Design with the following Treatments: Treatment 1 - Coumaphos (Positive Control), Treatment 2-25% KLE, Treatment 3 -50% KLE, Treatment 4-75% KLE, Treatment 5 Fresh Kakawate leaf extract and Treatment 6 - Negative Control (Water). Each treatment was replicated 3 times.
The study revealed that the acaricidal effect of pure kakawate leaf is comparable to the commercial preparation (coumaphos) against Boophilus micro plus and can be used as a substitute control measure against cattle ticks.
The study also determined that the cost of treatment using kakawate leaf was cheaper compared to the commercially available acaricide (coumaphos). Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine)
