This study focuses on the design, fabrication, and evaluation of an improvised gear oil filler that integrates foot pump, rotary pump, and hand pump mechanisms. The primary aim is to enhance fluid transfer efficiency, providing a cost-effective, portable, and locally sourced alternative for changing gear oil in automobiles and farm tractors.
The final design included a 9.5-liter tank, tubeless tire valve, I-meter hose, and a foot pump. Performance evaluation focused on metrics such as flow rate, pressure consistency, and leak prevention. Analysis of Variance was conducted across three pressure levels.
The foot pump gear oil filler demonstrated reliable and consistent performance, with an average of 64 rotations per 8 liters and stable operation times and flow rates. The rotary pump gear oil filler also showed efficiency in fluid transfer, handling different viscosities effectively. However, the hand pump gear oil filler encountered significant challenges, particularly with maintaining consistent pressure and operational reliability. resulting in inconsistent performance.
The study highlights the reliability and adaptability of the foot pump and rotary pump gear oil fillers for various applications. The foot pump gear oil filler, in particular, proved to be an effective and practical solution for manual fluid transfer. Despite the challenges with the hand pump, the study provides valuable insights and a comprehensive approach to improving fluid transfer devices. Further refinement is needed for the hand pump gear oil filler to enhance its reliability and performance.
