The study compared the efficacy of the different concentration of encapsulated betel nut powder (EBNP) and the commercially available anthelmintic (fenbendazole) and the study also determined the cost of treatment between encapsulated betel nut powder and fenbendazole.
The experiment was composed of five treatments (T1-75 mg fenbendazole, T2-negative control, T3 1000 mg EBNP, T4-1500 mg EBNP and T5-2000 mg EBNP) each with five replications with one experimental animal per replicate The experiment was laid out following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD).
The study reveals that the anthelmintic efficacy of all treatments with encapsulated betel nut powder are comparable to the effect of fenbendazole, a commercial dewormer against Capillaria sp. and Heterakis gallinae.
The study reveals that the cost of encapsulated betel nut powder is much cheaper compared to the cost of fenbendazole.
