This study was conducted to compare the efficacy of different concentrations of Piper betle leaf extract (PBLE), and "Tsaang Gubat" leaf extract (TGLE) against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Extended Spectrum Beta Lactamase Klebsiella pneumomoniae and compare them against cefotaxime and chloramphenicol. The study was laid out following the completely randomized design (CRD) with the following treatments T1 water (negative control), T2 Control antibiotics (cefotaxime and chloramphenicol), T3 -25% PBLE, T4-50% PBLE, T5-75% PBLE, 16-25% TGLE, T7-50% TGLE, and T8 75% TGLE Treatment 3-25% PBLE, treatment 4-50% PBLE, and treatment 5-75% PBLE respectively were moderately effective against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Extended Spectrum Beta Lactamase (ESBL) K. pneumoniae. While treatments 6-25% TGLE, treatment 7-50% TGLE, and treatment 8-75% TGLE were not effective in controlling both test bacteria Both plant extracts were not as effective in comparison to the highly effective cefotaxime and chloramphenicol.
